Description: Tanzanear is a UK charity whose objects are the relief of deaf people (whether totally or profoundly deaf or partially deprived of hearing or threatened with deafness) in Tanzania, East Africa, helping them to lead richer and more fulfilling lives. We currently do this by working with Buguruni School for the Deaf, a primary school, UMIVITA, a small NGO, run by young deaf adults, which provides advocacy and support services to deaf people in Dar es Salaam, and the Tanzania Society for the Deaf which owns Buguruni School. We fundraise, form networks with other charities and schools in the UK, and introduce volunteers to the school.
